Disease Fighting Foods + The 6 Essentials
3D Strawberry

Nutrition is one area of holistic healing that has become more widely used in people with disease or chronic illness. Food has the ability to boost immune systems, increase white blood cells and once digested make certain chemicals in the body that can actually fight disease.

Superfoods, I mean the real ones not the ones your probably marketed to about have the most effective properties in the human body that can regenerate cells development and reverse certain health problems. I class a superfood as an organic raw food with 5x nutrient value of regular foods.

I have been a chef all my life mainly because my father was a restauranteur but after working in nutrition and understanding what food can do to the human body it changed my life forever. Im more interested in what the food does after it is digested than what properties it has in its original harvested state.

Organic is definitely the way to go, most foods we eat have 4 times the recommended amounts of pesticides and carcinogenic compounds for consumption. Genetically Modified foods have been used to yield better crops or prevent mould or the use of carcinogenic compounds having to be used, and whilst a lot of testing has taken place Im still not willing to pass judgement as they are used on some of the most commonly consumed foods on the planet like; Potatoes, Rice, Tomatoes, Corn just to name a few.

The fact remains whilst meat products can highly increase cardiovascular problems, that cancers are mutations of abnormal cells that don't belong there. So we may have to trace back to understand what is causing these mutations before a cure or all out prevention can be made.

Lets be clear if we lived from birth in the rainforest, ate organic vegan diet, had no environmental influences such as chemicals/technology/pollution the chancers of Cancer would be 0 but we may only live to 37?. Modern medicine and a collective of people caring about people has enabled us to live at least 3 times what we should; based on the billion heart beats theory - check out this video: This proves the more we care for each other the longer we live!

So is there a balance, what we see, hear and our beliefs can be very harmful or effective in our overall health, we live in an economic world that is motivated by money and the great accumulation of it through mass marketing, not individual prevention of health! Sure there is testing, reports and even organisations to monitor such foods but once again it all come back to the almighty dollar. We as humans take a lot of things on trust, like the information we receive! One day coffee is good for you; the next its cancer causing; then we can have in moderation; but not over 63 degrees! Its information confusion, what do we believe? meanwhile we've consumed so much that if it was bad its to late!

So what I do know from real people, real foods and through personal experience is that balance is the key. Sure if your here because your sick and modern medicine just isn't getting you the results you desire or your think you can attain more; or having difficulty finding the mental and emotional strength to support treatment then thats great! Why is it great? because you have already realised and have a belief there is improvement imminent, you understand you are the most important piece in this puzzle and its more than just treatment its a holistic journey that gets you the fastest and more effective way to be treated & healed.

Alternatively some conditions we have to live with must be managed, mentally this is a lot to grasp while sick but I have many friends who need to manage certain conditions while trying different things but basically they want and need this at this present time, they want any form of quality life back; its been going on to long in this state and a shift or directional change needs to take place for of mind and this is just as important.

Personally I have worked in bulk whole food health stores, paid but more often as a volunteer and experimented with immune boosting foods and also what I call foodacine, a form of food and/or diet matched in a certain formula for you specifically targeting what your body needs, this is complimentary, meaning along side traditional medicine and other therapies, and healing techniques that lead to measurable results.

The great thing about foodacine, coupled with traditional and alternative medicine and healing therapies, is that its easily measured. What I mean by that is if you have a condition or a form of cancer you get tests and blood work done all the time. The most common thing that happens is that the doctor says "I don't know what your doing, but keep doing it" its all natural, you yourself will feel the difference and improvements almost immediately and there is one thing I forgot, its fun!

6 ESSENTIALS

Carbohydrates are the main energy source for the brain. Without carbohydrates, the body could not function properly. Sources include fruits, breads and grains, starchy vegetables and sugars. Make at least half of the grains you consume whole grains. Whole grains and fruit are full of fiber, which reduces the risk of coronary heart disease and helps maintain normal blood glucose levels.

Protein is the major structural component of cells and is responsible for the building and repair of body tissues. Protein is broken down into amino acids, which are building blocks of protein. Nine of the 20 amino acids, known as essential amino acids, must be provided in the diet as they cannot be synthesized in the body. Ten to 35 percent of your daily calories should come from protein sources such as quinoa, Seitan, tofu, tempeh, beans or legumes.

Fat is an energy source that when consumed, increases the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins including vitamins A, D, E and K. Twenty to 35 percent of your daily intake should come from fat. Choose healthy options such as omega-3 + 6's-rich foods like hemp seeds, walnuts and vegetable-based oils. Omega-3s help with development and growth. Limit intake of saturated fats such as high-fat meats and full-fat dairy. Other smart choices include nuts, seeds and avocado.

Vitamins vitamin C is necessary for the synthesis of collagen, which provides structure to blood vessels, bone and ligaments. Rich sources include citrus fruits, strawberries and peppers. Folate, found in foods, helps to prevent birth defects. Pregnant women or women who plan to become pregnant should speak with their physician about taking a folic acid supplement, the synthetic form of folate, in addition to their diet. Vitamin D helps to maintain calcium homeostasis. It can be found in food sources or synthesized by the sun.

Minerals Sodium helps to maintain fluid volume outside of the cells and helps cells to function normally. Keep intake under 2,400 milligrams per day. Potassium maintains fluid volume inside and outside of cells and prevents the excess rise of blood pressure with increased sodium intake. Rich sources include bananas, potatoes and tomatoes. Calcium helps to maintain and build strong bones and teeth. Include three servings of calcium-rich foods per day including rice milk, soybeans cooked, broccoli, bok choi, tahini, navy beans,  and tofu, processed with calcium sulfate.

Water helps to maintain homeostasis in the body and transports nutrients to cells. Water also assists in removing waste products from the body. All beverages and high-moisture foods such as soup and watermelon contain water and count towards your daily water requirement. Adults should consume 25 to 35 milliliters of fluids per kilogram body weight or 2 to 3 liters per day.
